Luto is proud to be a sponsor of the 9th Annual Patient Information Conference

As a member of the Patient Information Forum (PiF), Luto are pleased to announce that we will be sponsoring the 9th Annual Patient Information Conference to be held on Thursday 1st May 2014 which is organised and run by PiF.

About PiF and the conference

PiF is a community targeted at professionals who work in the field of consumer health information. PiF members range from NHS and government groups to voluntary, commercial and academic organisations. Just like Luto, PiF are committed to helping make available to the public, high quality and accessible information, allowing patients to make informed decisions about their health.

With keynote presentations and in-depth sessions covering key industry topics such as health literacy, the use of different formats of information and the provision of information in primary care, everyone who attends is sure to take away valuable learnings that can be applied within their working sector.

Why patient information is important to us

Making sure patient information is clear and easy to understand encompasses a lot of what we do at Luto. We write and design information for patients and use our expertise to give the best possible advice to our clients, with the intended outcome that patients will be able to effectively use the information.

Using an iterative approach to the development and study of information means we don’t stop until we get it right:

  • Firstly, our in-house experts in plain writing and information design suggest improvements to your information.
  • We then conduct testing of the information to make sure it can be easily understood and followed by the target patient group. This may take the form of a readability test or where appropriate a usability test. This is where participants are asked to use Instructions for Use to demonstrate performing a task.
  • Based on the results of the testing phase we then suggest any additional improvements to further enhance the readability and usability of your information.
  • If necessary, further testing is conducted to verify the success of these changes.

We work with a large range of clients who produce a variety of consumer medical information – from package leaflets that you receive with your medicines and instructions for using medical devices, to training materials and clinical trials information.

Get in touch to find out how we can help you improve your patient information.

Alternatively, members of the Luto team, including Wayne Middleton (Head of Operations and Design at Luto and PiF Member of the month, September 2013) will be attending the Patient Information Conference and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have for us on the day.
